What Is Hole Swallow?

Hole Swallow takes one of the most satisfying ideas in mobile gaming, a hole in the ground that keeps getting bigger, and puts it straight into your browser.

You start as a tiny Pothole in the middle of a busy map. At first you can only swallow the small stuff: cones, fire hydrants, trash cans and people walking down the sidewalk. Each one drops into the hole with a satisfying gulp, and the hole grows a little. Soon you can swallow benches and trees, then cars and buses, then houses, office towers and finally the skyscrapers that were towering over you a minute earlier.

That is the hook in one sentence: you can feel yourself getting bigger every second. In 90 seconds you go from swallowing a traffic cone to swallowing a stadium.

How to Play Hole Swallow

1. Pick a map. Choose Neon City, Sunny Farm or Moon Base, or play the Daily Challenge.
2. Steer your hole. Anything smaller than your hole falls in as soon as you pass over it. Things that are too big just wobble on the edge.
3. Grow. The bar under the timer shows your current size and the next thing you will be able to eat, for example "Next: Buses".
4. Eat the rivals. Three rival holes are hungry too. When you are at least 15% bigger than one of them, drive over it and swallow it whole. A 🍴 icon over a rival means you can eat it; ⚠️ means it can eat you.
5. Win the Frenzy. The last 30 seconds are the Frenzy, when every point is doubled. Be the biggest hole when the clock hits zero.

Three Maps to Swallow

Each map is built from roughly 800 to 1,000 objects, from tiny snacks along every sidewalk to one-of-a-kind landmarks downtown. One map each week is the Map of the Week, which also hosts the Daily Challenge.

From Pothole to Black Hole: The 10 Sizes

Your hole grows through ten named sizes:

Pothole → Manhole → Sinkhole → Pit → Crater → Chasm → Abyss → Maw → Void → Black Hole

Every new size gets its own banner, and the game tells you what just became edible: "CRATER! Now eating: Houses." Reaching Black Hole in a single game is the hardest achievement in Hole Swallow.

Scoring in Hole Swallow

Bigger objects are worth dramatically more, so growing fast matters more than anything else. The combo rewards speed: swallow something within two-thirds of a second of your last swallow and the multiplier climbs by 5%, all the way to ×3. A hole gliding down a street full of parked cars can hold a combo for a long time.

Why Hole Swallow Is So Addictive

• Constant growth. Something drops into the hole every few moments, and every drop makes you bigger. It is one of the most satisfying feedback loops in games.
• Short games, instant restarts. A full game lasts exactly 90 seconds, so "one more game" is always easy to say yes to.
• Rivals keep you on your toes. The other holes steal your food, hunt you when they are bigger and run when you are. Getting swallowed is not the end: you come back 2 seconds later with 60% of your mass and a short shield, so a comeback is always possible.
• A timelapse of every game. After each game, watch the whole 90 seconds replayed in about ten, from the first cone to the last skyscraper. You can save the clip as a video and share it.
• Hole skins to unlock. There are six skins: Void (default), Lava, Toxic, Ocean, Gold Rush and Galaxy. Nine achievements unlock them, from Car Crusher to Black Hole.
• A leaderboard you can trust. The server rebuilds the map and replays every swallow of your game before accepting a score.

The Daily Challenge

The Daily Challenge gives every player in the world the exact same map layout for the day, on the Map of the Week. It resets at 00:00 UTC and has its own leaderboard, so you are competing on a perfectly level field.

7 Tips to Become a Black Hole

1. Eat the sidewalks first. Cones, hydrants and people line the edge of every block. They are the fastest way to grow in the first 15 seconds.
2. Follow the streets. Parked cars, taxis and buses sit along every road, and they are the perfect food once you reach Sinkhole size.
3. Keep moving to keep the combo. A combo only lasts two-thirds of a second between swallows, so plan a route through crowded blocks instead of stopping.
4. Check the "Next" bar. It tells you exactly which size unlocks the next type of object. Head for those objects the moment you can eat them.
5. Hunt the golden objects. Eight objects on every map sparkle with a gold star, and each one is worth five times its normal points.
6. Watch the rival icons. Chase rivals marked 🍴 and steer clear of any marked ⚠️. The arrows at the edge of the screen show where rivals are when they are out of view.
7. Save a big block for the Frenzy. Points double in the last 30 seconds, so a skyscraper swallowed during the Frenzy is worth twice as much.
