Chain Reaction: The One-Click Explosion Game
Chain Reaction is a free online arcade game where you get one click per round. Your click sets off a single explosion, and every glowing orb it touches explodes and sets off the orbs next to it. Pop enough orbs to reach the level goal, build the longest chain you can and climb the global leaderboard. It runs in any browser on desktop and mobile, with no download and no account.
How to Play
- Look at the board. Neon orbs drift slowly around the arena in clusters, lines and lone drifters.
- Pick your moment. Move your mouse, or press and hold on mobile, to see the blast ring. Orbs that will be hit directly get a white outline.
- Detonate. Click, or release your finger. Your one explosion is the spark for the whole chain.
- Watch it spread. Each orb caught in a blast explodes a moment later and catches the orbs around it. The chain counter climbs: CHAIN x5, x10, x20…
- Reach the goal. The bar under the score shows how many orbs you need. Hit it to clear the level. Miss it and you lose one of your 3 hearts.
Orb Types

Scoring, Combos and Bonuses
- Chain multiplier: the n-th orb in a chain scores its points × (1 + 0.1 × (n − 1)), up to x5. Long chains are worth far more than short ones.
- x2 orbs multiply everything that follows in that chain.
- Chain milestones: CHAIN x5 GOOD! +250 · x10 GREAT! +750 · x20 MEGA CHAIN! +2,000 · x30 INSANE! +4,000 · x50 CHAIN MASTER! +8,000.
- Perfect Start: your first blast hits 5+ orbs directly for +500.
- Level clear: +250 × the level number.
- Perfect Chain: pop every orb for +2,000 + 500 × the level, plus one heart back (up to 3).
Levels and Difficulty
Level 1 has 18 orbs and a goal of 4, so everyone gets a chain in the first few seconds. Each level adds 3 orbs and raises the goal. Clusters spread out, orbs drift faster, and special orbs appear: x2 orbs from level 2, mega orbs from level 3 and bombs from level 4. From level 15 the board is full with 60 orbs and you need 42 of them. Every formation is generated fresh and checked to make sure the goal can be reached.
Daily Challenge
The Daily Challenge gives every player in the world the same set of boards, reset every day at 00:00 UTC. Same boards, same odds: the daily leaderboard shows who found the best first click.
7 Tips for Bigger Chains
- Aim at density, not the centre. Look for the spot where the blast ring outlines the most orbs. 5+ outlined orbs means a Perfect Start.
- Wait for the drift. Clusters move. A few seconds of patience can bring two groups close enough to link.
- Use bridges. Lines of orbs between clusters carry the chain across the board. Start at one end.
- Save the bomb for gaps. A bomb's blast is more than twice as wide as a normal one. Chain into it to reach isolated orbs.
- Crack the mega early. Mega orbs need two blasts, so they only pop inside a busy chain.
- Catch the x2 first. An x2 orb near the start of the chain doubles everything after it.
- Go for Perfect Chains on early levels. The heart you win back can save your run later.
Why Chain Reaction Is So Hard to Put Down
Rounds take about five seconds, restarts are instant and every board is different. The chain sounds climb up a musical scale as the chain grows, big milestones slow down time for a moment, and you can unlock five explosion themes (Neon, Solar, Toxic, Plasma and Prism) through achievements. Every run is checked by the server, so the top spots on the leaderboard are earned.

What is a Perfect Start?
If your first explosion hits 5 or more orbs directly, you get PERFECT START and +500 points. Aiming at the densest cluster is the key skill in Chain Reaction.
What is a Perfect Chain?
If you pop every single orb on the board in one round, you get PERFECT CHAIN: a bonus of 2,000 + 500 × the level, and one lost heart comes back.
What is the Daily Challenge?
Every day at 00:00 UTC a new Daily Challenge starts. Everyone gets exactly the same orb formations, so the daily leaderboard is a fair head-to-head competition.
Can I play Chain Reaction on my phone?
Yes. The game is built for touch screens and runs in any modern mobile browser. Tap to detonate, or press and hold to aim with a preview ring, then release.
Do I need an account for the leaderboard?
No. After a run, type a nickname of 3 to 16 characters and submit your score. We store only the nickname, the score and basic run stats. Every run is checked by the server before it appears on the board.
