How to Play One Different
Tap PLAY, wait for the 3-2-1 countdown, then scan the grid for the one tile that looks off. A correct tap adds time to your clock, grows your combo streak, and scores points based on the round’s difficulty, your combo, and how fast you reacted. A wrong tap costs 1.5 seconds and resets your combo to zero. The grid grows from a gentle 3x3 up to a demanding 7x7 as your round count climbs, and the visual difference gets subtler at every tier — but never so subtle that a human eye can’t catch it.
Why One Different Is So Hard to Put Down
Every run is short — 30 to 90 seconds — which makes “one more try” an easy decision. The combo system rewards a clean streak with real multipliers (GOOD! at combo x5, GREAT! at x10, INSANE! at x20, UNSTOPPABLE! at x30), so a single mistake feels costly in a way that keeps you locked in. And because your personal best and the live global leaderboard are always one tap away, there’s always a concrete number to chase.
Tips to Beat Your High Score
Scan in a fixed pattern (left to right, row by row) instead of jumping around — it’s faster once it’s a habit. Don’t stare at the center of the grid; let your peripheral vision catch the odd tile first. And once your combo passes x10, slow down by a fraction of a second rather than guessing — a wrong tap at a high combo costs far more than the speed bonus you’d gain from rushing it.
