Hold & Release is a one-input precision timing game you can pick up in three seconds and never quite put down. Press and hold anywhere on the screen (mouse, finger, or stylus all work) to charge your power. The longer you hold, the more power builds up — but every target needs a different amount, so watch the glowing rings and let go at the moment that lines up with the target's distance.
Release too early and you'll fall short. Hold too long and you'll overshoot. Time it just right and you'll land inside the target rings for NORMAL, GREAT, or dead-center PERFECT hits — and every so often a tiny JACKPOT core appears for a huge bonus. Chain hits together to build a combo multiplier, and stack consecutive PERFECTs into a Perfect Streak for extra bonus points.
Each round changes the target's distance, and after a few rounds targets start moving side to side, shrinking under pressure, or hiding decoy "fake" targets nearby — everything from the concept's original design, tuned so the difficulty ramps up gradually instead of spiking all at once. You get three lives per run: miss three times and it's game over, so every release matters.
Watch the power bar's color, not just the number — it shifts from a calm blue in the SAFE zone through STRONG and POWER before flashing gold at MAX, and once you're maxed the bar wobbles slightly, which is your cue that release timing now matters more than raw duration. On moving-target rounds, the target has to cross back through the center for a clean hit — don't chase it, wait for it to come to you. And don't panic after a miss: three lives means one bad release is never the end of a run, so stay loose and keep your rhythm.
